Congress reshuffle: Tariq Anwar replaced as Kerala in-charge, Chennithala given charge of Maharashtra

NEW DELHI: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress has undergone a reshuffle at the organizational level. Deepa Das Munshi has replaced Tariq Anwar as the Kerala in-charge. Tariq Anwar has also been removed from the post of general secretary. Priyanka Gandhi, the national general secretary, has been removed from the charge of Uttar Pradesh.

Ramesh Chennithala, a permanent invitee in the working committee, was given charge of Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, KC Venugopal will continue as the general secretary of the AICC. Chennithala has been assigned the task of strengthening the Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra. Apart from the Lok Sabha elections, the leadership has also asked to focus on assembly elections.

A new working committee was appointed after Mallikarjun Kharge took over as AICC president and the new list has been released in continuation of this. Priyanka Gandhi, who remains the general secretary, has not been given any special duties. Jairam Ramesh will remain in charge of the communication department and Ajay Maken will continue as the treasurer. Sachin Pilot, who will become the general secretary, has been given the charge of Chhattisgarh.
