KOZHIKODE: BJP state president K Surendran said that the surgical error in Kozhikode Medical College is a serious issue and the Chief Minister should answer.
"The incident where a child, who was admitted for surgical removal of the sixth finger, was operated on her tongue is a shame for the state. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is the first accused in turning the health sector into shambles. An appropriate compensation should be given to the child and the Chief Minister should apologize to the public. These types of surgical errors are becoming a daily occurrence in the state," Surendran said.
"Kozhikode itself has witnessed huge surgical errors before. A similar incident happened in Alappuzha as well. Kerala had witnessed a shocking incident where scissors got stuck in the stomach of a young woman after surgery at Kozhikode Medical College. We also witnessed another incident where a woman was sexually abused by a temporary worker of the Medical College after the surgery. The woman officer who responded against it was hunted down by the government. Health Minister Veena George, who is a complete failure, should resign immediately. Or else the Chief Minister should be ready to drop her from the cabinet. The Chief Minister is on an excursion abroad while the government hospitals are turning into hell," Surendran said.
