THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has found himself in a pickle after a Facebook post that he was deeply saddened to learn that many people lost their lives in the floods in Kerala.

"Saddened to know about the tragic loss of due to torrential rains in Kerala. My condolences to the bereaved family members. Hoping for a speedy recovery of those injured," Rajeev Chandrasekhar's Facebook post reads. The Malayalam version of this was also included in the post which says about the loss of lives in floods in Kerala.

The post has been removed from his account after the incident became controversial. It is not clear if someone hacked the account or if it was a mistake on Rajeev's part.

However, many people including Minister V Sivankutty have come out trolling Rajeev Chandrasekhar. In a post without mentioning Rajeev Chandrasekhar's name, Sivankutty wrote, "I think (he) saw the movie "2018"...If you come here at a time other than the election season, you can save yourself without losing consciousness..!".

Many people have commented on Sivankutty's post. There are many comments such as 'He'll say Kerala has turned into a desert after watching Aadujeevitham', 'he just now saw the 2018 movie', and 'only if he had some sense'.

Mayor Arya Rajendran has also come out trolling Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Sharing a picture of a movie scene, the mayor wrote on Facebook, 'I wonder whether he has seen this...someone should him that this is a movie..".

Meanwhile, neither Rajeev Chandrasekhar nor BJP has yet responded to the controversial post. Rajeev Chandrasekhar is also the NDA candidate for Lok Sabha from Thiruvananthapuram constituency. Shashi Tharoor is the UDF candidate in the constituency while Pannyan Ravindran is the LDF candidate. The counting of votes is on June 4.
