Mild tremor in Wayanad, say locals, directs natives to evacuate

KALPETTA: The locals said that a minor tremor was witnessed in some areas adjacent to Kurichyarmala, Pinangode Morickap, Ambukuthi Mala and Edakkal Caves in Wayanad. Following that, the revenue department directed the local residents to evacuate from the place. Vythiri Tehsildar has informed the village officers to reach the spot. A holiday was given to Ambalavayal GLP school. This school is near the Edakkal Caves.

The locals said that there was a minor tremor. The glasses kept on the table fell down in the building under construction at Morickap. Scientists and employees of RARS in Ambalavayal have reported that they heard loud noises and rumbles in Ambalavayal areas.

Rumblings and slight tremors were felt from underground in Padiparam in Nenmeni village, Ambukuthi and Ambalavayal RARS areas. The locals of Sugandhagari area included in Pozhuthana village under Vythiri taluk and Settukunnu in Achuranam village said that they felt tremor and rumblings.
