In a recent interview with a YouTube channel, actress Shivani disclosed that there was an attempt to exclude her from the film "China Town." According to Shivani, the actor who had previously harassed her at another film location was behind the effort but it was ultimately thwarted by Mohanlal's intervention.
Shivani recounted her experience, saying, "My first film was 'Annan Thampi'. No one behaved inappropriately on that set. However, on the location of another film, I had a different experience. At midnight, an actor knocked on my door and then left. My mother and I were in the room and eventually, my mother identified the man. During the day, he appeared to be a very respectable person, speaking kindly to everyone. We reported the incident to the director and producer and after that, I didn't receive any film offers for a while."
A year and a half later, Shivani was called for a role in 'China Town' by Siddu Panaykkal. The shooting was set in Ramoji Rao, Hyderabad. At the airport, she encountered the same actor who had previously harassed her. Despite their past, Shivani chose to be cordial and wished him well. However, she noticed that he seemed tense.
"Three days after we reached the studio, I hadn't been called to shoot. I sat in my room while they made excuses each day. Finally, on the fourth day, I was called to the set," Shivani said.
That evening, producer Antony Perumbavoor asked Shivani if she had any issues with the actor in question. He informed her that the actor had called the set and requested that she not be allowed to act. However, Mohanlal stepped in to resolve the situation. "Mohanlal sir intervened and said, 'She's a girl. If we tell this, it will be a big shame. Plus, there are many calculations involved in the amounts we've mentioned. If she doesn't get it, we don't want that curse.' Thanks to Lal sir, I was able to act in 'China Town'," Shivani concluded.
