'They called me to act in a film featuring two superstars, gave me five-star hotel room to stay; I did not receive a single rupee as payment'

The film 'Narayaneente Moonnaanmakkal', written and directed by Sharon Venugopal and starring Joju George, Suraj Venjarammoodu, and Alencier, has hit theatres. A revelation made by ALencier during the film’s promotion is now going viral on social media. He disclosed that he was not paid for his role in the Tamil film Vettaiyan.

"Do you know that I acted in Vettaiyan? I acted alongside Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan. They even gave me a ticket to Mumbai. I am speaking honestly, like an open book—I did not receive a single rupee as payment. They provided me with accommodation in a five-star hotel.

I was supposed to sit there in the role of a judge. Is that a joke? Just because I'm saying this, I don’t think I will get any roles in Tamil cinema. The only reason I agreed to act in that film was to see how these two legends perform. I never had any interest in acting in Tamil films or conquering Tamil cinema.

When I was dressed as a judge and sitting in the chamber, Rajini sir was on one side, and Amitabh Bachchan sir was on the other. I was watching Rajini sir's performance. Back when I was studying for my pre-degree, I had seen Rajini sir stop a flying helicopter on screen. I wanted to see how he performs in real life—that was the only reason I gave my dates for the film. It was just a one-day shoot.

Rajini sir performed his scene and walked out of the courtroom. Then came the next performance. And then, like a roaring lion, Amitabh Bachchan’s voice echoed through the courtroom. The judge (me) was startled. I immediately realized that I could never match up to their performances," he said.
