KOCHI: MLA Uma Thomas, who sustained serious injuries after falling from the stage during the mega dance event at Kaloor Stadium in Kochi, has been discharged from the hospital. She was discharged after 46 days of hospitalization. Hospital authorities said that her current health condition is satisfactory.
On Wednesday, Uma Thomas herself announced on social media that she would be leaving the hospital after completing her treatment. In her post, she expressed gratitude to the doctors, nurses, support staff, colleagues, friends, and family members who stood by her during this time.
The accident occurred on December 29 while the Thrikkakara MLA was attending the dance event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kaloor as a guest. While returning to her seat after meeting Minister Saji Cherian, she lost her balance and fell from the temporarily set-up barricade in the VIP gallery.
Uma Thomas was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in a bloodied state. She had hit her head on the concrete floor, causing severe injuries to her brain, lungs, and ribs. The incident happened during Mridanga Naadam, a dance event organized with the aim of setting a Guinness record.
