CHARUMMOOD: In a major crackdown on the drug mafia, the Alappuzha district police have seized the properties of a known ganja peddler involved in multiple drug cases. The action was carried out under the supervision of Chengannur DySP M.K. Binu Kumar as part of the Alappuzha district police's anti-narcotics drive.
The seized assets include 17.5 cents of land and a house owned by P.K. Khan, also known as Shaiju Khan (41), located at Puthuppallikkunnam in Nooranad, within the jurisdiction of Nooranad police station.
Shaiju Khan faces charges in seven ganja smuggling cases registered between 2020 and now at Nooranad Police, Nooranad Excise, and Alappuzha Excise Enforcement. Police reports state that he had been sourcing cannabis from Odisha and Tamil Nadu and distributing it in small quantities across Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, and Kollam districts. His operations, primarily based out of Charummoodu, targeted both youth and children.
Authorities confirmed that this is the first instance in Alappuzha district where property has been seized as part of action against drug offenders.
