Karat Razak, man surrounded by controversies

KOZHIKKODE: Karat Razak’s political life was always surrounded by controversies. When he was in IUML, CPM raised allegations. He was allegedly called as a smuggler. However Razak ignored this. He helped the poor and gained popularity. He won in Panchayat elections.

He tried his luck in several business like gold, real estate, hospitals and CBSE schools.

Razak was a good organizer. When P.T.A. Rahim left IUML, it was Karat Razak that forced the party activists to stay. However in assembly elections, Razak wasn’t given a seat. V.M. Ummar was preferred by the party in 2011. Karat Razak was again dumped by the party in 2016 as M.A. Razak master was given the chance to contest. So he decided to contest as a dissident. LDF announced support for T.A. Razak and he won by 573 votes.

Controversies didn’t leave Razak even after becoming an MLA. His photo with gold smuggler Abdul Faiz sparked controversy.
