THRISSUR: Renowned filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer Antony Eastman passed away on Saturday. He died at Thrissur Medical College while undergoing treatment for cardiac arrest.
Born on August 26, 1946, Antony studied at St. Thomas School, Chowannur and Govt. High School, Kunnamkulam. He started his career as a photographer and started a studio in Ernakulam in the 1960s under the name 'Eastman'. He went on to click pictures for newspapers, magazines, and later for those in the film industry. Thus he came to be known as Antony Eastman.
It was Antony Eastman who introduced popular actress Silk Smitha and music director Johnson through his directorial debut movie 'Inaye Thedi'. He went on to direct 5 more films including 'Vayal', 'Ambada Njaane' and 'Ice Cream'.
It was screenwriter John Paul who announced the news of Antony Eastman's death through a Facebook post. The funeral will be held later.
