THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Crime Branch has recorded the statement of former police chief Lokanath Behera in connection with the case registered against conman Monson Mavunkal. The Crime Branch sought an explanation regarding the installation of a beat box at the gate of Monson's house and the former DGP's visit to Monson's museum. It also questioned Traffic IG Lakshmana who has close contact with Monson. The Crime Branch recorded the statement of Behera as it has to submit the investigation report at the High Court on Tuesday.

The beat box was installed at the gate of Monson's house after Behera visited the museum at Kaloor. A controversy had erupted after documents revealed that the beat box was installed on the basis of an instruction from the Police Headquarters.

The investigating team decided to question IG Lakshmana in detail after documents revealed that he had a close connection with Monson. Several VIPs were questioned by the investigating team in connection with the case.

The Crime Branch had arrested Monson's make-up man yesterday in connection with a case of molestation of a minor girl. The Forest Department also seized what was suspected to be a whale bone kept by Monson at a friend's home.
