Woman dies after container lorry rams scooter

HARIPPAD: A woman, who was riding pillion with her sister-in-law, died after a container lorry ran over her. Suja (Shalini, 38), daughter of Surendran and Satyamma of Kunnel Thekkathil in Nangyarkulangara, had a tragic end in the accident that took place at Harippad Madhava junction on the National Highway at 6 pm on Friday.

Suja, a home nurse in Thrissur, came home three days ago due to a headache. The accident happened when she was returning to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital on a scooter with his brother's wife Seena. The container lorry hit the handle of the scooter. The lorry's rear wheels went through Suja's body as she fell from the out of control scooter. She died on the spot. Seena, who was driving the scooter, sustained minor injuries. The body was transferred to Harippad Govt. Hospital Mortuary. The body will be released today after postmortem. Anwar is Suja's husband. Son: Ashiq.

A container lorry with Haryana registration, which did not stop following the accident, was stopped by locals at Kariyilakulangara and handed over to the police.
