THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Yellow alert has been sounded in six districts of the state. Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Palakkad districts will receive rains today. There is a possibility of strong isolated rains. The Met Office has forecast 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain in 24 hours.
Meantime, the meteorological department has forecast more rains in southern and central Kerala due to cyclone Asani. The atmosphere will remain cloudy.
There is no obstacle to fishing off the coast of Kerala. Coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu witnessed strong winds and heavy rains as a result of Asani. Some flights to Chennai and Visakhapatnam were cancelled. The conclusion is that within the next 24 hours Asani will weaken and end up without causing major damage. The current speed of the wind is 95 to 105 kmph. The warning is that it will be up to 115.
