Modi govt committed to upliftment of poor: Ashwini Kumar Choubey

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey on Saturday said that the union government was committed to the upliftment of the poor in the country.

"The Prime Minister has never been biased towards the states. The motto of the central government is still 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas'" he told a news conference.

"Five new hospitals are coming up in Lakshadweep. Research is being done to develop different plants there along with coconut. During the last eight years, India has witnessed a paradigm shift towards people-centred governance under Modi. 45 crore Jan Dhan accounts were started to bring women into the mainstream. 49 lakh Jan Dhan accounts have been opened in Kerala. Another dream project of Modi is that everyone should have a home. 2.39 crore houses were provided to the homeless in the country. Of this, 1.70 lakh houses are in Kerala. Through the Ujjwala project, the Centre has also been able to supply cooking gas to 99 per cent of households. Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance benefitted 55 crore citizens The poor believe that their Prime Minister is with them," Choubey said.
