THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former minister Saji Cherian expressed regret in the assembly. He said that his speech in Mallappally was distorted and his stand is to protect the constitution. He made a special statement in the assembly following his resignation.
‘I am a public servant upholding constitutional values. I said nothing against the Constitution. Said that constitutional values need empowerment. The speech was distorted. Have not insulted Ambedkar. Will be with the people again,’ he said.
He made a special statement in the assembly under Rule 64. This is the first time that Saji Cherian expressing his regret on the issue of insulting the Constitution.
‘We all would say that India has written a beautiful constitution. The most important in the country. I would say the constitution is written to rob the people of India. Indians wrote down a constitution prepared by the British.’
‘The Constitution was fine-tuned adding democracy and secularism here and there to make it beautiful, but the exploitative part is quite evident. We proudly followed the system for 75 years,’ he added.
