THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man accused of defrauding around Rs 3.5 lakh by offering a job in Canada has been arrested from Bengaluru. Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber Crime Police arrested David Raj (35), a native of Jyotipura in Bengaluru. The scam was done by advertising through social media by pretending to be a recruiting officer of a Canadian company in India. The action was taken on the complaint of Thiruvananthapuram native who was the victim of fraud. He had defrauded about three and a half lakh rupees from the complainant. Initially, there was no clue about the accused who alternated using phone numbers and WhatsApp accounts taken with fake ID proofs. Then Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber Crime Police arrested the suspect with the help of cyber technologies and after camping in Bengaluru for a week. The accused was arrested by a police team consisting of Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber Crime Station ACP Shyamlal, Inspector Vinodkumar, SI Bijulal and CPO Vijesh under the supervision of Deputy Police Commissioner Ajith Kumar and on the instructions of Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner Sparjan Kumar.
