NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has carried out raids at the house of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia. The raids are over Delhi’s now withdrawn policy on liquor sale and are carried out at 21 locations in seven states, including Sisodia’s residence.
According to officials, raids were also conducted at the residence of then Delhi excise commissioner Arava Gopi Krishna. Meantime, Sisodia said that he will cooperate with the CBI investigation.
Taking to Twitter, Sisodia wrote, “CBI has arrived. We are honest, building a future for lakhs of children. Unfortunate that in this country, whoever does good work is hassled just like this, that is why our country is still not number 1”.
Meantime, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “There have been many investigations and raids in the past as well. Nothing came out. This time, too, nothing will come out".
The CBI investigation is being conducted in connection with the FIR alleging corruption in the Delhi excise policy brought by the AAP government, last November. As part of the new policy, licenses of liquor shops were given to private companies.
