PALAKKAD: The Mannarkkad SC ST Court has cancelled the bail of 12 accused in the Attappadi Madhu murder case. The court accepted the prosecution's argument that the accused violated the high court's bail conditions and attempted to influence the witnesses. The prosecution had sought the cancellation of the bail of 12 people out of the 16 accused in the case.
The court has cancelled the bail of second accused Maraikkar, third accused Shamsuddin, fourth accused Aneesh, fifth accused Radhakrishnan, sixth accused Abu Bakar, seventh accused Siddique, ninth accused Najeeb, tenth accused Jaiju Mon, eleventh accused Abdul Karim, twelfth accused Sajeev, fifteenth accused Biju and sixteenth accused Muneer. Meantime, the court did not cancel the bail of first accused Hussain, eighth accused Ubaid, thirteenth accused Satheesh and fourteenth accused Hareesh.
It was clear from the examination of the phone records that the accused tried to influence the witnesses directly and through intermediaries. There were 122 witnesses in the case. Out of the 15 witnesses, who were tried at the court, 13 had turned hostile. The accused were granted bail in 2018.
Meantime, special prosecutor Rajesh M Menon said that he was able to convince the court of his arguments. Out of the 12 accused, only three had arrived at the court. The rest had filed a plea citing that they cannot appear before the court. However, the court rejected the plea and issued warrant against them. Further action will be taken in the coming days, said the prosecutor. Meantime, Madhu’s mother Malli said that she is happy with the verdict and believes that she will get justice.
