Landslide in Malappuram, rubber plantation washed away, transportation disrupted

MALAPPURAM: More than an acre of rubber plantation has been washed away in a landslide at Anakkayam Panthaloor after heavy rains. The incident happened last night. A major accident was averted as the landslide was not in a residential area. No casualty has been reported. Transportation was disrupted in the area after the landslide.

Meantime, rain is continuing in many parts of the state. Orange alert has been issued in Ernakulam and Idukki as there is a possibility of heavy rainfall. Yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode. The Central Meteorological Department said there is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder in the hilly areas.

Fishing has been banned in Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts till September 5 and in Karnataka coasts from September 3 to September 5.
