ALUVA: A 74-year-old man, who sustained serious injuries after falling into a pothole on the road, died on Thursday. Kunnathukara naive Kunjumuhammad (74) died while undergoing treatment. On August 20, he sustained a serious injury after falling off his motorcycle due to a pothole on the Aluva Perumbavoor road. Following this, Kunjumuhammad was unconscious for more than three weeks. The High Court had sought a report from the District Collector on the deplorable condition of the road where the accident occurred. In the subsequent vigilance inspection, it was found that the road had not undergone timely repair work.
Aluva MLA Anwar Sadath alleged that there was a serious lapse on the part of the government in the incident. "Despite constant complaints about the deplorable condition of the road, there is still no solution to the problem. Nothing is happening except disputes. The government is doing nothing other than mouthing punch lines in times of accidents. This road has been taken over by KIIFB. PWD says KIIFB is the one to repair. KIIFB will say they are having technical problems. This is a serious lapse on part of the government. The culprits should be charged with murder and arrested," the MLA said.
