Incident of roughing up man in front of daughter in Kattakada, non-bailable offence imposed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police has registered a non-bailable case against the accused for roughing a man in front of his daughter when they came to renew her concession. The case is registered for insulting womanhood. The action is based on the statements of Reshma and her friend Akhila.


Four employees were suspended by the KSRTC management following the incident. Station master A Muhammad Sharif of Aryanad unit, duty guard S R Suresh Kumar of Kattakkada depot, conductor N Anil Kumar and assistant C P Milan Dorich were suspended based on the preliminary report.

The incident happened yesterday morning. Premanan and his daughter had come to the depot to renew her concession. Her friend was also with her. The staff said that the degree course certificate is required to renew the concession. However, Premanan said that he has been after this for three months and demanded to renew it. The employees were not ready to give concession. A dispute broke out and this resulted in the manhandling. Premanan (53), a resident of Amachal in Kattakada, sustained injuries in the attack and is undergoing treatment. The police reached the hospital and recorded his statement.
