Second marriage without divorce: Collector suspends newlywed couple following first wife's complaint

KOCHI: The Ernakulam collector suspended a newlywed couple of the revenue department for violating the code of conduct. MP Padmakumar, a senior clerk of Kochi Taluk Revenue Recovery Special Tehsildar Office and T Smitha, senior clerk of Tripunithura Land Tribunal Special Tehsildar Office have been suspended.

Padmakumar is already married. The suspension was for violating government employees’ service rules and marrying without legal separation. Smitha was suspended for marrying a married man. The collector’s action is based on the complaint lodged by Padmakumar's first wife.
