MUMBAI: Maharashtra government has taken strict action against Popular Front activists who raised pro-Pakistan slogans during the protest against nationwide arrest of PFI leaders by NIA. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has informed that sedition cases will be registered against those who raised such slogans. He clarified that no anti-national activities will be allowed in the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Maharashtra Deputy CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis also raised criticism on the issue. 'If anyone raises slogans of 'Pakistan Zindabad' in Maharashtra and in the country, we will not spare such people and action will be taken. I have also directed police to file case of sedition against such people', said Fadnavis.

Many media reported of raising pro-Pakistan slogans during protests against PFI arrests. The video of raising 'Pakistan zindabad' slogan during PFI protest program in Pune also came out. PFI organised protest in front of District collector's office in Pune against nationwide raid and arrest of their leaders. 40 party activists were arrested in the protest on Friday. Pro-Pakistan slogan was raised while they were taken into police vehicle as part of custody. The Bundgarden police had registered a case against the PFI activists only for organising the agitation without permission, for unlawful assembly and for blocking the road. Maharashtra government took strict action against this following BJP protests against anti-India slogan.
