Incident where a student fell from bus in Kottayam: Driver taken into custody, bus seized

KOTTAYAM: Police have taken a private bus driver into custody after a student got injured after falling from the bus. The police took Kainady native Manish, driver of the Chippi bus operating on the Kottayam-Chingavanam route, into custody based on the complaint lodged by the student's parents. The bus was also seized by the police. The police said that they will register a case against Manish for overspeeding and reckless driving.

The incident happened around 4 pm yesterday. Abhiram, a class 8 student of CMS school sustained injuries on his face and hand after falling from the bus. It was the locals who rushed the boy to the hospital. The student's father said that the bus was overspeeding and the door of the bus was not closed.
