Employees boycott VC; Technical university administration comes to a standstill, future of students at stake

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Technical university administration came to a standstill as the top officials and employees are not cooperating with Dr Ciza Thomas, who is the interim Vice chancellor. The other employees refuse to provide files and ignores instructions by interim VC. It is indicated that this action is as per the directions of the government.

They justify that a writ has been filed in High court by the government against Dr Ciza Thomas’ appointment. The plea will be considered by the court today. The Governor has submitted affidavit in favor of Ciza Thomas.

Ciza Thomas, who reached the Raj Bhavan yesterday and met the governor, informed that the employees are not allowing her to sign even the graduation certificates and would not hand over the files. The Governor assured that steps will be taken to ensure full protection to the Vice Chancellor. Almost 700-degree certificates are pending in the office of the Controller of Examinations.

The issuance of new certificates is being delayed on the grounds that 500-degree certificates signed by MS Rajashree, who was dismissed by the Supreme Court, should be cancelled.

The future of many students is at stake due to this. It includes certificate of those who have secured a placement and those opting for higher studies in other states and abroad. The Governor’s action giving VC charge to Ciza Thomas has triggered such a response. A section of employees and students have been protesting in front of the VC's office ever since she took charge.
