GUWAHATI: 13 people, including forest officials, were injured in a leopard attack in Assam's Jorhat district on Monday. The leopard was spotted In the campus of the Rain Forest Research Institute (RRFI) and the residents informed the forest department. The leopard attacked about 10 people including women and children here. The animal also attacked the forest department officials who reached the spot before running away.
The video of the leopard jumping over a barbed wire fence and attacking a four-wheeler is being widely circulated on social media. The forest department official disclosed that several attempts were made to capture the leopard. This area is surrounded by forest. The injured have been admitted to hospital and all are in stable condition. Officials have asked local residents to stay indoors until the wild animal is caught.
