'My children have been left without their father because of involvement of a third party'; wife levels serious allegation against Pak cricketer

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan cricketer Imad Wasim had recently announced his separation from his wife Sannia Ashfaq. Now, Sannia has come out levelling serious allegations against the cricketer. Taking to her Instagram page, Sannia stated that marital life was destroyed due to the "involvement of a third party."

'I am writing this from a place of deep pain. My home has been broken, and my children have been left without their father. I am a mother of three, including a five-month-old infant who has yet to be held by his father. This is not a story I wished to share, but silence should never be mistaken for weakness. Like many marriages, ours had difficulties, yet it continued to exist. I remained committed as a wife and mother and made sincere efforts to preserve our family. What ultimately ended this marriage was the involvement of a third party, whose intention was to marry my husband, and become the final blow to an already struggling union.

Following this, I endured emotional torment, mistreatment, abortion and abandonment while pregnant and vulnerable, choosing patience for the sake of my children and the dignity of my home.

The divorce process itself is legally disputed and remains under scrutiny. The truth will emerge through proper channels. To those who attempt to silence or intimidate me: know that injustice does not go unanswered. Allah says: 'Do not think Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do.' (Surah Ibrahim 14:42)

And He also says: 'Good women are for good men, and good men are for good women.' (Surah An-Nur 24:26)

Also, it is crucial to mention that there is documented evidence available for each and every culprit in this matter, but I'm being threatened to not post it publicly. For every individual who attempts to threaten me shall be dealt with by the law. I speak today not out of vengeance, but out of truth for myself, for my children, and for every woman who was told to endure in silence.' Sannia wrote.

Earlier, 37-year-old Imad Wasim announced that he had decided to end his marriage as long-standing differences and disputes could not be resolved. He requested the public to respect their privacy and asked people not to circulate old photographs. In an Instagram post, he also stated that Sannia should no longer be referred to as his partner.

He also warned against spreading fake news and said he would take legal action if anyone tried to defame him. Imad added that he would continue to fulfil his responsibilities as a father.

Imad Wasim and Sannia got married in 2019. They have three children. The family issue of Imad Wasim, who was one of the biggest stars in Pakistan cricket, has become a major topic of discussion among fans. An all-rounder in Pakistan cricket since 2015, Imad announced his retirement from the national team in 2024. He played 75 T20 internationals and 55 ODIs for Pakistan.
