Couple's shenanigans in gym land them in jail, secret behind luxurious lifestyle is out

LONDON: A couple has been arrested by the police for stealing credit cards and SIM cards of gym goers. The arrested Ashley Singh (39) and his girlfriend Sophie Bruyea (20) would take people's credits cards and SIMs while they were exercising and would in turn live a luxurious life.

In the past one year, they have stolen the credit cards of 18 people from the locker room of gyms. They then use this money to buy expensive phones, clothes, bags, shoes and go on vacations. Owners did not even have time to prevent loss of money through credit cards as SIM cards were also stolen.

All of the thefts by Ashley and Sophia were similar. A police officer who became suspicious of this handed over these matters to the detective team investigating financial crimes. Later, the theft was uncovered using CCTV footage.

On January 27, 2023, both of them were arrested at Gatwick Airport as they returned from Paris with 2,000 Euros worth of designer goods. 18 cases were registered in connection with theft in the gym and have stolen 2,50,000 Euros. Ashley has been awarded three years in jail and Sophia 20 months.
