BUDAPEST: The party of Trump supporter and Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is the main opponent in the European Union, has been defeated in the Hungarian general election. The main opponent is Peter Magyar's party. Magyar will be the next Prime Minister. With 67 percent of the votes counted, Peter Magyar's party 'Tisza' is close to a historic victory. It won two-thirds of the total 199 seats. So far, Peter Magyar's party has captured 137 seats. It has won about 51 percent of the votes.
The elections held in Hungary on Sunday were closely watched by Europe and the United States. Trump describes Viktor Orban as the defender of liberal democracy. 'The election result is not final, but it is clear and understandable. It is painful for us,' Orban told the media. Viktor Orbán, 62, has ruled Hungary since 2010.
Meantime, the Tisza party, which won a two-thirds majority, can now change the country's constitution. Peter Magyar, who was previously a close ally of Viktor Orbán, is inching closer to power with 77.8 percent of the vote counted at 4:30 pm Hungarian time.
