SANAA: The Prime Minister of the Houthi-controlled Yemeni government, Ahmed al-Rawahi, was killed in an Israeli airstrike. International media reports say that Houthi leaders, including the Prime Minister, were killed in an attack on an apartment in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. Israel has not officially commented on the matter.

Yemen was divided into two following a civil war that has been raging in the country since 2014. Iran-backed Houthis control the capital Sanaa, and the internationally recognised government of President Rashad al-Alimi commands dominance in the south.

This is the second Israeli attack in Sanaa in a week. Reports say that the Israeli attack targeted a meeting of Houthi political and military leaders. It is reported that Houthi Defence Minister Mohammed al-Atifi and Chief of Staff Mohammed Abd al-Karim al-Qamari were also killed in the Israeli attack.
