KOLKATA: Brazil defeated India 4-0 in an international friendly at the Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday, with Samuel Lino scoring twice after Estêvão and Pedro had put the visitors two goals ahead before half-time.
Brazil dominated possession in the opening stages, but India held firm and looked dangerous on the counter. Estêvão broke the deadlock in the 28th minute, finding the top corner with a left-footed strike from the right side of the box. Pedro doubled Brazil's lead in the 42nd minute after being played through by Estêvão.
Samuel Lino, who replaced Vinícius Júnior at half-time, made it 3-0 in the 58th minute. The forward finished from the left side of the box after Pedro set him up.
Lino completed his brace in the fifth minute of added time, finishing from the left side of the box after a corner to seal Brazil's 4-0 victory.
The match was the first senior men's international meeting between India and Brazil. The result extended India's winless run to six matches, while Brazil ended their Australia-India tour with two wins and a draw.
