Three gold medals and record! India climbs to seventh spot in Asian Games medal tally

NAGOYA: India secured three gold medals and one bronze today and currently holds nine gold, 21 silver, and 26 bronze medals, taking their total tally to 56. India is now in the seventh spot in the rankings.

In shooting, Kynan Chenai and Neeru Dhanda won gold for India today. The Indian duo clinched the title by scoring 34 points in the mixed trap team event, setting a new Asian Games record in the process. Qatar won the silver medal with 32 points, while China took the bronze with 23 points.

This is India's first-ever Asian Games gold medal in the mixed trap team event. It marks India's ninth gold medal of the competition and the third won today. With this, India's total medal tally in shooting has reached 15, comprising three gold, eight silver, and four bronze medals.

Neeru Dhanda, who won gold in the women's individual trap event on Tuesday, also achieved the distinction of becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual gold medal in trap shooting at the Asian Games. She also secured a silver medal in the women's team trap event alongside Ashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer.
