IShowSpeed's distraction tactics and Messi's penalty; Video goes super viral

Internet sensation IShowSpeed claims that his distraction tactics worked, leading to Messi missing a crucial penalty against Egypt early on in the game on Tuesday. Lionel Messi, the leading goalscorer of the tournament and a natural penalty taker, was stunned into silence by Egypt’s goalkeeper, Mostafa Shobeir, after a crucial save.

A video clip, meanwhile, went viral showing how IShowSpeed, a diehard Cristiano Ronaldo fan, tried to distract the Argentinian captain while he was getting ready to take the spotkick. Speed was heard rumbling inanity, waving arms and even barking. Speed was seated just behind the goalpost and had a good view of Messi.

After the penalty got saved, Speed sported a surprise look and even gazed at the cameras, asking, “How did that work”

Many comments appeared on social media criticising Speed, while a few others also feared that volatile Argentinian football fans might attack Speed if he continued with similar antics in the game.

Meanwhile, FIFA has launched an investigation into alleged racial slurs hurled at Speed by Argentina fans in the match against Cape Verde. Speed has 57 million subscribers on YouTube and 53 million followers on TikTok.
