Bank of America vice president stabbed to death in Times Square; police shoot suspect dead

WASHINGTON: Bank of America vice president Erin Piacenti (32) was killed in a stabbing attack in Times Square, a popular tourist destination in New York City. Police shot dead the suspect, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros of Queens, who allegedly stabbed Erin and another person.

Pamela, a mother of three, had reportedly been receiving treatment for mental health issues. Erin’s colleagues said the attack took place on the day she returned to work after maternity leave.

The attack occurred at around 4.30 pm on Monday. Pamela reportedly arrived at Times Square carrying two kitchen knives. She first attacked a 68-year-old man who was waiting with his wife to cross the road. The attack appeared to be unprovoked, according to reports. She then allegedly stabbed Erin, who was in her path. Erin suffered serious injuries to her abdomen and was rushed to a hospital, but doctors could not save her, authorities said. Police later shot and killed Pamela at the scene.
