‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’ success, Fahadh Faasil next: Bhavana Studios’ ‘Karate Chandran’ to begin shoot

Fahadh Faasil is set to team up with debutant director Roy for Karate Chandran, which will begin shooting in Kottayam after September 15. Sangeeth Prathap is also part of the film’s prominent cast, while the remaining casting is currently being finalised.

Karate Chandran marks Fahadh Faasil’s next lead role after Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira. Roy, who has worked as Dileesh Pothan’s co-director since Maheshinte Prathikaaram, is making his directorial debut with the film.

The film is being produced by Bhavana Studios after the blockbuster success of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit. S. Hareesh and Vinoy Thomas have jointly written the screenplay. Karate Chandran is the eighth production from the Bhavana Studios banner.

Bhavana Studios has been on a strong run, with Kumbalangi Nights, Joji, Palthu Janwar, Thankam, Premalu and Bethlehem Kudumbayunit among its productions. After the blockbuster Premalu, the Girish A.D directorial starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, is emerging as the biggest box-office success of 2026. Sangeeth Prathap has also been winning applause for his performance in the film.

Meanwhile, another Bhavana Studios production is nearing completion. Directed by debutant Kiran Jose, the film is currently in the final stages of shooting in Pollachi. Indrajith, Sandeep Pradeep, Dileesh Pothan and debutant Sujina Sreedharan are among the principal cast.

Sujina Sreedharan, who is also a dancer, is the wife of director and actor Siddharth Bharathan.
