Jayaram-Simran’s Panchathanthiram reunion, but this time they’re a couple!

Director Gautham Raj, known for Raatchasi and Kazhuvethi Moorkkan, has begun work on his next film, which was launched with a pooja ceremony in Chennai on Sunday. The film stars Jayaram and Simran in the lead roles. The two actors had earlier shared screen space in Panchathanthiram, although Simran was paired opposite Kamal Haasan in that film. The new project marks their first pairing as a lead couple.

Speaking at the launch, Jayaram said he was happy to be working with Simran again after Panchathanthiram and to now be paired opposite her. He also extended his Onam wishes to everyone.

Simran said she was happy to be working with Jayaram, whom she described as a major actor. She added that the film would have a story that connects with Gen Z, the 2K generation and those who grew up in the 1990s.

Gautham Raj’s Raatchasi dealt with issues surrounding education, while Kazhuvethi Moorkkan was a serious story set against a rural backdrop. In contrast, his new film is a family romantic comedy that explores relationships and the differing mindsets of different generations.

The film is presented by Arya under The Show People banner. K. Vijay Pandi of White Carpet Films and Shanjan G. of Redacted Studios are jointly producing the project.
