Mammootty turns 75; ‘Mela’ title and first-look poster released at midnight

KOCHI: Malayalam cinema icon and megastar Mammootty turns 75 today. The superstar is celebrating his birthday at his home in Chennai, after travelling there from Kochi on Sunday along with his wife, Sulfath.

The birthday brought a special treat for his fans as the title and first-look poster of Mammootty’s upcoming film directed by Nithish Sahadev were unveiled at midnight on September 7.

Titled ‘Mela’, the film features Mammootty in a striking mass avatar. The first-look poster shows the actor in a black shirt and black mundu, holding a machete.

‘Mela’ marks the ninth production venture of Mammootty Kampany, the actor’s production house.

Meanwhile, a new picture of Mammootty featuring his latest look, shared on social media on Sunday, has also gone viral. The actor’s new appearance has quickly caught the attention of fans on social media.

Mammootty, whose real name is Muhammed Kutty, was born on September 7, 1951, in Chembu near Vaikom in Kottayam district.

Those close to the actor said there will be no major birthday celebrations this year. The birthday comes soon after Mammootty won his fourth National Film Award.
