KODAGU: Senior IPS officer's wife was killed in a wild elephant attack. The incident happened at Kodagu in Karnataka. The dead is Sandhya Achayya (51), wife of IPS officer Sunil Achayya.

She was attacked yesterday at the coffee plantation near Titimati in Kodagu. A five-member team including Sandhya had gone to the plantation after attending a family function. The unexpected wild elephant rushed towards them. The others fled from the area but Sandhya could not. Sandhya was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital, but her life could not be saved.

Chief Minister D K Shivakumar offered his condolences. ‘This is a heartbreaking incident. I was deeply saddened to learn about it. We share your grief. May God give you and your family the strength to bear this loss,’ said the chief minister.
