NEW DELHI: National Testing Agency (NTA) chief Abhishek Singh has informed that the steps to convert NEET UG exams from paper-based to computer-based has started. The process started after the central government approved the recommendation of a high-level committee in this regard. He also told news agency ANI that the exam will be made online from next year onwards.

The move to conduct the exam online was taken after the question paper leaked in the NEET exam conducted on May 3. The reason for the suspicion was that some parts of the question paper circulated among students in Sikar, Rajasthan were similar to the original question paper.

An investigation conducted by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group revealed that out of the 720 questions in the NEET exam, 600 were similar to the question paper. The question paper was circulated in Sikar two days before the NEET exam. It was sold for Rs 20,000 to Rs 2 lakh. Approximately 30,000 question papers were sold before the exam.
