BENGALURU: Toddlers will be made to sit inside a washing machine if cried, sprays water into their mouths using a toilet jet spray. These are the brutal acts shown towards kids, some not even two years old, at a daycare centre in Bengaluru. The children were also locked inside bathrooms.
The incident came to light after videos of the abuse at the daycare centre inside the Capgemini campus at the HAL IT campus in Bengaluru surfaced on social media, triggering widespread outrage.
Reports say the staff of the daycare could not tolerate children crying. To stop them from crying, they allegedly made the toddlers sit inside a front-load washing machine. If the children continued crying, the caregivers sprayed water into their mouths using a toilet jet spray and locked them inside the bathroom. The children were also threatened to remain silent.
Following the emergence of the videos, police registered an FIR against five women employed at the daycare and launched a detailed investigation. Statements have been recorded from the daycare staff, parents of the children, and other witnesses. Police said further action will be based on the evidence gathered during the investigation.
The human rights commission has also intervened in the incident. They will examine the videos in detail. It is not yet clear whether anyone has been arrested in the case.
