'Saw messages sent to another person': Accused's statement to police in Maramon resort murder case

KOZHENCHERRY: The accused in the Maramon resort murder case confessed to police that he committed the crime in anger over the victim denying his marriage proposal. Jithu, the accused in the case, said that he was also incensed over Dinsha getting close to another person.

Jithu first met Dinsha while she came to take up a course in aviation in a centre adjacent to the hotel where Jithu was employed. The rift between the two worsened after Jithu allegedly saw the messages Dinsha sent to another person.

It was Jithu who purchased the SIM card for Dinsha. After getting a job at the resort, Dinsha moved to the staff quarters. It is also reported that Dinsha got the job at the resort with Jithu’s help.

According to Dinsha’s uncle, she had told her father about facing repeated trouble from Jithu. Police also confirmed Jithu’s antecedents, which include being booked in a drug case. Police are moving ahead with the investigation while examining circumstantial evidence.
