THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: UDF convener and MP Adoor Prakash has alleged that attempts were being made to push him out of his position, just as K. Sudhakaran was forced out of the KPCC president's post. He made the remarks in an interview with Kaumudy TV's Straight Line programme.
Prakash said he suspected that a group was working to isolate him as UDF convener. "K. Sudhakaran was isolated and eventually forced out of the KPCC president's post. I suspect that the same lobby is now working against me," he said.
He also reiterated that several important government decisions were not being communicated to him in his capacity as UDF convener. "I came to know about many things through the media," he said.
Prakash also commented on the controversy surrounding the Chief Minister's foreign trips. He said there should be no room for doubts among the public and that those in power should have the courage to provide clear answers to prevent any suspicion.
"I do not see anything wrong with the Chief Minister and ministers visiting foreign countries. Such visits help them understand the development models followed by other countries. There is no need to view these trips with a narrow mindset and turn them into controversies," he said.
Prakash maintained that he had never deliberately tried to create controversies. He said his primary demand was that the conventions and protocols of the coalition system should be respected.
He also said the final decision on matters such as setting up a UDF ministerial coordination committee, similar to the one in the LDF, rested with the All India Congress Committee (AICC). "We will function in accordance with the directions given by the AICC," he added.
