THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The age limit for concession to students in KSRTC has been reduced to 25. Majority of the students studying regular courses where age limit is not applicable will not get concession due to this. The order of the CMD released yesterday stated that the concession given to students is withdrawn following the severe financial crisis faced by the corporation. Presently travel is free for students up to plus two and it will continue.

However, the private bus owners too demand the same benefits as that of KSRTC. If there is no favorable decision from the government, they said will start a strike from April 1.

Concession decisions

  • Students studying in government, aided and specially-abled schools will be provided concessions. Concession will continue in the present manner for students of vocational training centres

  • Students except children of parents paying income tax and ITC will be given concession

  • Students in colleges falling in BPL sections will be provided concessions.
  • Concession is 30% for students of self-financing colleges, private unaided and recognized schools. The students and management have to pay 35% each of the ticket price.
