KOTTAYAM: The family has alleged mystery in the death of the woman, found dead at her husband’s house. She has been identified as Arya Soman (31) of Perumbavoor. Her family alleged that dowry harassment was the cause of her death. The family will file a complaint with the Perumbavoor DySP on Friday demanding an investigation into the incident.
Arya was found hanging at her husband's house in Kottayam on August 18. The woman was laid to rest yesterday. The family then alleged mystery on the death. The family said beat marks were found on her face. They also raised doubts on the absence of her mother-in-law and her mother when Arya was laid to rest.
Arya got married to Deepak Babu six years ago. Reports say that Deepak's mother and grandmother had harassed Arya in the name of dowry. The couple later shifted to a rented house. Since the house was flooded in the recent rains, the couple and their six-year-old daughter returned to Deepak's house.
A verbal dispute broke out the other day between Arya and Deepak's family in the name of Onakodi. Arya was later found dead. The Kottayam East police have registered a case of unnatural death in the incident. The FIR says that she committed suicide due to the excessive drinking of Deepak. He was former Nattassery CPM branch secretary.
