Journalist Jijo John Puthezhath passes away

KOCHI: Special correspondent of Malayala Manorama, Kochi unit, Jijo John Puthezhath passed away Wednesday morning. He was 52. Jijo was an accomplished journalist who brought to light several investigative reports. He was the one who exposed the Rs 700-crore investment fraud that recently garnered national attention. He was the recipient of the 2015 Ramnath Goenka Award and the 2020 Chief Editor’s Gold Medal for journalistic excellence at Malayala Manorama.

After completing his journalism studies at the Kerala Press Academy, Jijo joined Malayala Manorama. He was a member of the Puthezheth family of Gothuruth in Paravur.

His leaves behind his wife Ramya Joseph, a teacher with Sarva Shiksha Kerala in Kochi and two children, Ananya Jijo and Johan Joseph John.
