Heavy rain and thunderstorms expected; yellow alert issued in several districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the southwest monsoon is becoming active again, isolated parts of Kerala are likely to receive thunderstorms and rain along with strong winds of up to 50 kmph until Tuesday.

A yellow alert has been issued today for Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. For tomorrow, the alert has been declared in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. Rainfall is expected to become stronger in the northern districts from tomorrow.

As strong winds are likely to continue until Tuesday, fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea along the Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts.
