Ernakulam, Kottayam and five more districts; IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Kerala, yellow alert issued

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rainfall in the state over the coming days. The IMD issued a 'Yellow Alert' for seven districts today: Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, and Pathanamthitta.

From October 4 to 6, isolated areas in Kerala are likely to experience rain with thunderstorms and strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph. IMD has also warned of the likelihood of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds (30–40 kmph) in isolated areas on October 7 and 8.

04-10-2026 – Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad

05-10-2026 – Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod

06-10-2026 – Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad
