KOCHI: A low-flying aircraft approaching the Cochin International Airport caused significant damage to the roof of a house in Nedumbassery on Sunday morning, leaving the homeowner injured.

The incident occurred around 8:30 AM in Okkal Shanthinagar, targeting the residence of Simon K.J., a local resident. According to reports, the intense vibrations and downward force from the low-flying plane dislodged the roof tiles, causing them to collapse inward.

Simon and his wife were inside the house when the incident took place. He sustained shoulder injuries from the falling tiles and received medical attention. Local residents reported hearing a deafening noise and feeling severe tremors as the aircraft made its descent over the Okkal area.

Following the incident, the affected family filed a formal complaint with the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) authorities, demanding an inquiry into the matter.

Locals stated that this is not an isolated incident. A similar case of an aircraft flying dangerously low over the residential neighbourhood was reported just last month.

Families living in the vicinity of the airport runway have expressed growing anxiety over their safety. Community members are now urging aviation authorities and airport management to implement a permanent solution to prevent such recurring hazards in the densely populated residential zones surrounding the airport.
