THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to launch cargo services as part of its efforts to expand its logistics operations and increase non-ticket revenue. Transport Minister C.P. John will flag off the new cargo service at the Domestic Airport Cargo Terminal in Thiruvananthapuram at 12.30 pm on October 7.
KSRTC is entering the cargo sector after studying the models successfully implemented by various State Road Transport Corporations across the country. The move is aimed at expanding the corporation’s logistics operations while generating additional revenue beyond ticket sales.
Ward councillor Sheeba Patrick will preside over the function. Thiruvananthapuram MP Dr Shashi Tharoor, Transport Department Secretary T.V. Anupama, KSRTC CMD Pramoj Shankar, officials, employees and prominent figures from the political and social sectors will attend the event.
