KOCHI: The investigation team acquired additional footage concerning Suhail Sajeev, the accused in the Nedumbassery Mini Cooper accident. It is understood that the footage includes clips of Suhail driving the Mini Cooper.
The need for further visuals arose from the fear that the case might fall apart due to a lack of eyewitness accounts or CCTV footage. Meanwhile, starting today, the special investigation team will visit the homes of the accident victims to record statements. The team will visit Devika’s home in Wayanad today, followed by visits to Sullia and Palakkad.
The police conducted an evidence-gathering procedure with Suhail recently. The accused was taken to the Airport Road—where the accident occurred—as well as to the bars where he consumed alcohol. Suhail pointed out the spot where the car was subsequently brought to a halt. Suhail was not led out of the police vehicle in fear of retribution from the public. Notably, an attempt was made to attack Suhail when he was taken for a medical examination shortly after the accident.
A blood test confirmed the presence of alcohol on Suhail’s body at the time of the accident. The analysis revealed that the levels of alcohol in his blood and urine exceeded the permissible limits. The police had established that the first accused, Suhail, and the second accused, Ninav, had begun drinking alcohol as early as the afternoon of the day the incident occurred.
